Pinewood Derby!

Posted on Jan 14 2014 - 1:25pm

We're off to the races!  Next pack meeting is Saturday, January 25th, from 8am-12pm.  Hope everyone has started working on their cars!  Scouts will race first (Tigers, Wolves, Bears, then Webs).  After the offical races, the track will be open to others including parents of scouts, pack/den leaders, former scouts, etc.  Cars can be purchased for $7 from the pack leaders. If you would like to bring a friend to introduce them to scouting, this is the day to do it.  If you have an uncle who was an eagle scout, please invite him.

This year we're trying something new and exciting for our Fall campout. We will be going to Pipsico Scout Reservation in Surry County, not much more than an hour's drive from Richmond. It encompasses over 917 acres of woodland, open fields and marshes. The land abounds in natural life that is so important to the Scouting program. You can read all about its excellent offerings here: http://www.tidewaterbsa.com/PSR/.  HIGHLIGHTS: mile-long beach along the James (hunt for shark teeth, prehistoric whale bones, driftwood), climbing wall, CENTRAL SHOWER AND BATH FACILITIES, and other neat treasures! We will be camping in the Lions campsite. Remember, this is paid for by your dues, so don't miss out on this excellent opportunity!!
